The Stencil Collection
Humbles™ Flash Style Graphics, drawn by hand and stylized to look like the stencil paper used in tattooing.
The Stencil Collection is a Flash Style Graphics release from the Humbles™ studio where every graphic is drawn by hand and stylized to carry the look and tone of stencil paper, the purple, the cutout lines, and the photocopied imperfections.
This one goes back to where it all started, not in a print shop, but a tattoo shop.
We wanted to honor the Humbles™ Flash Style Graphic by tracing it back to its roots and presenting it the way it looked before it ever touched a garment. The stencil paper is where the drawing sits right before it becomes permanent, and that is where this collection starts.
Where It Comes From
Humbles™ Flash Style Graphics developed over nearly two decades of drawing, starting in tattoo shops and later refined in this studio. The discipline that comes from that world is specific. A drawing has to be recognizable at any size, on any surface, from across the room, and it has to hold up and stay clear through years of wear.
That carries over directly into garment production. A drawing developed in a tattoo shop already knows how to travel. It knows how to hold up on skin through years of sun and movement, so translating it onto cotton is a natural next step, not a compromise.
A garment gets worn, washed, and carried into places a print on a wall never goes, so the drawing has to be strong enough to hold through all of that and still look like something worth wearing years from now.
The Stencil Collection is the Flash Style Graphic taken back to its closest reference point, where the tattoo tradition and the screen printing process overlap and a drawing made to go on skin goes on cotton instead.
About the Process
The Stencil Collection is designed to bring the visual language of tattoo stencil work into a garment context. Each piece begins with Flash Style Graphics drawn by hand at the Humbles™ studio, designed around the same principles that have guided flash work for generations: clarity, bold line work, and immediate recognition. From there, the graphic is stylized to look like stencil paper right off your 3M, with the cutout lines and the photocopied imperfections that anyone who has spent time in a shop will recognize. Looking at this shirt you can almost smell the green soap.
Every garment is printed and finished in-house at the Humbles™ studio in Trenton, NJ, ensuring the integrity of the work remains intact from drawing to final piece.
The Collection
The Stencil Collection is available as a tee and long sleeve in our classic Comfort Colors fit and an oversized ultra comfy hoodie, all in ivory.
Comfort Colors has been our standard for a reason. The weight, the dye process, the tee that gets better the more you wear it. We use the best blanks available and Comfort Colors is exactly that, and that is exactly the kind of garment a graphic like this deserves. Putting the Stencil graphic on a Comfort Colors blank is not a default decision, it is the right one. The garment already has character before the ink touches it, and on ivory that character comes through in a way that a white tee simply cannot replicate.
The hoodie fits oversized. Use your usual size as a starting point and go from there based on preference. Size up or down, it still works either way.
Ivory is our standard starting point and this collection is no different.
Black. Maybe V2.
