Garment Dyeing

A lot of merch starts from the same stock blanks in the same stock colors, and it shows, the shirt looks like every other shirt before a single graphic even goes on it. Garment dyeing is how we get away from that.

We start from undyed or ivory garments and dye them ourselves, in-house, instead of ordering pre-colored blanks. That gives us control over the tone, the saturation, and how the dye takes to the fabric, so the shirt already looks like something before we even print on it.

Garment dyeing is included in every flat-rate custom package, and it happens right here in the studio, so the color and the print decisions stay connected instead of coming from two different places.

Why Garment Dyeing Changes the Outcome

Picking a color off a stock blank comes with real limits. A color that looks right in a catalog photo doesn't always work once ink hits it, some colors overpower the graphic, others kill the contrast, or shift in ways you can't predict until it's already printed.

Because we dye before we print, the artwork goes on a surface that's already finished, not fighting an off-the-shelf color. That keeps every print in the run looking clean and consistent.

It also means we're making color calls early, with your brand in mind, instead of ending up with merch that looks like a promotional giveaway instead of something that represents you.

Our Dye Styles

Every dye style is made to support the artwork, not distract from it. Expect some variation piece to piece, that's part of the process, but it's controlled, not random.

Solid Tub Dye

We get solid color by submerging garments fully in a dye bath, so the color goes all the way through the fabric, not just the surface. It won't look factory-flat. Each tee has its own subtle variation, which gives it more texture and a softer, more natural feel, while the whole run still reads as one color.

Spiral Dye

Our spiral dyes are toned down on purpose, we pick palettes that feel balanced instead of loud. The spiral pattern adds movement across the garment but leaves enough space for the artwork to still read clearly. Good option when you want visual interest without it competing with the print.

Golden Sunset Spiral

Crush Dye

Crush dye gives you a loose, uneven pattern that still makes a statement. It's got movement and texture without feeling busy, so the graphic sits naturally on top of it. Good option when you want the dye pattern noticed right away, without it pulling focus from the artwork.

Dot Dye

Dot dye creates a controlled pattern out of repeated points of color. It can be subtle or more pronounced depending on the project, and it's a good fit when you need the graphic to stay sharp and clear. The dots support the artwork instead of competing with it.

Shop Rag Dye

Shop rag dye leans all the way into irregular. It looks like a well-used shop rag: overlapping color, uneven texture, soft edges. Good option when you want depth on the tee without it reading as a typical tie dye. The color shifts across the surface without drawing too much attention to itself. Works especially well with test prints, experimental layouts, or any graphic that suits a more lived-in surface.

Integrated Into the Studio Process

Dyeing happens in-house, before printing, so nothing about your project gets handed off. Garments get dyed, cured, and fully prepped before any ink touches the fabric, which is why the prints come out clean, sharp, and consistent. It also means dye and graphic decisions can inform each other instead of happening in isolation.
